Getting the house pre-wired for the security system was a load of
fun with the security system vendor. And as much as we tried to
get it done before we went to Ocean Isle (with very little notice
given to us by the builder that they were ready for the pre-wire,
mind you!), it didn't happen.
Perhaps if we could have done it on the Friday afternoon before we
left (when I was installing the structured network panel in the
office), the installation of the wires to the inside coat closet
under the stairs might have been sent to the location we preferred...
the garage.
Since then, it's come to light that the components in the security
system interface box don't deal well with high humidity and
temperatures common in North Carolina. That along with code
requirements moved the box from the garage to the customary location
in the small inside closet.
All I can say is that I feel for the chap that has to come out and
service the box...that closet is rather like the black hole of
Calcutta!
